SRAM and Hope use DOT fluid and Tektro, TRP and Shimano use mineral oil. Never use DOT brake fluid in a system designed to use mineral oil and vice versa.
Dot 3, 4 and 5.1 can be used for DOT brakes in Australia they simply have different boiling points. SRAM recommends DOT 4 or 5.1. Note that DOT 5 is not compatible with DOT 3,4 or 5.1!
