Yesterday I completed the Island Triathlon standard distance.

Results:

Swim: 1.5km 55 minutes
T1: 3 minutes
Ride: 40km 1:19
T2: 3 minutes
Run: 10km 1:05
Overall time: 3:25

The swim was a shocker, I was expecting no worse than 45 minutes but it blew out to 55 minutes, by the end I thought I must have turned into a Merman (male Mermaid) because of the time spent in the water. In the sprint distance triathlons I lose time in the swim but not nearly as much. The ride was pretty much on song and the run alright just a bit fatigued on the last 3-4 km.

So the main learning from this event is that I have to fix my swimming or getting to the top of my age group is out of the question. The top two guys swam 31 and 33 minutes respectively.
