10x Is Easier Than 2x

I have just read the book 10x is Easier Than 2x by Dan Sullivan and Dr Ben Hardy

When I read a non-fiction book I always mark, with a pen, all the bits that have the most impact on me or teach me something new. Below my core take-away from this book I listed my marked sections. These might not be as relevant to you as they are to me.

Let me just say that this book is really a must ready for anyone who wants to turbo charge their outcomes! Be that in business or in performance training.

My core take-away

The most impact on me have made:

  • 10x is not about more, it’s about less
  • Set a big goal to to clarify your way forward
  • Using the 80/20 rule: Work out what your 20% is and get rid of the rest
  • Identify your unique ability – write it down
  • be in the gain and finally
  • approach work like training: have focus days, prep days and recovery days

Marked Sections

10x is not about more, it’s about less

Going 10x is the simplification of your focus down to the core essential, your attention is on far less but insanely more potent and impactful.

10x is not about a specific outcome but rather a process, it’s a skill and a operating system to:

  • dramatically expanding your vision and standards
  • simplifying your strategy and focus
  • identifying and removing non essentials
  • developing mastery in unique areas (area)
  • leading and empowering others who share your vision

Fundamental freedoms:

  • freedom of time
  • freedom of money
  • freedom of relationship
  • freedom of purpose

As someone who takes their Unique Ability seriously and shifts the majority of their time to develop it, 10x and non linear jumps follow.

We all have a unique ability – the purest and freest expression of our self and our purpose – but not everyone commits to and develops their unique ability

Your life’s objective is to develop mastery in and fully express your unique ability

The more you develop your unique ability the more you’re doing your work and not someone else’s

You develop your unique ability by:

  • being increasingly honest with yourself and other about what you want for yourself and your life
  • expanding your vision and thinking exponentially bigger for yourself about what you can do, be, and have
  • clarifying your ideal future self and what they would be doing
  • clarifying the 20%, to develop your mastery and unique ability
  • letting go of the 80% and allowing yourself to explore your curiosities and interests

How you don anything is how you do everything

Your unique ability is your way of providing the most value to other people, which no one else could ever replicate even if they tried.

Being in the state of flow occurs when you embrace your unique ability, you’re free and create what you you want and how you want it, this is how you drive your unique ability to outer worldly levels

When you embrace your unique ability and take it seriously you immediately remove yourself from ever competing with someone again, you are yourself.

Don’t measure yourself against ideals, ideals are like the end of an rainbow

the only way of measuring how far you have come is by measuring back to where you were not from where you are to the end of the rainbow

Be in the gain, whatever you focus on expands and you become

whatever you see you create more off

Practicing gain is easy, at the end of each day write down 3 wins. Anything achieved or learned (including learning from stuff that didn’t go well), experiences, progress towards your goals

When you’re in the gain everything happens for you!

Every experience is valuable

you continually learn form every experience

you’re always getting better, always learning even from the mundane

check your past for 10x jumps, it will help to clarify your future 10x jumps

When planning your day don’t go for six tasks go for 3 important ones! And then call it a day

Seek feedback, to get it right, is more important then being right!
