Gear and Equipment

I expect that you have a strong interest in the latest sports gear, equipment, and technology that can enhance performance—whether it’s advanced running shoes, bikes, or performance-tracking devices, especially wearable devices like Garmin watches or bike computers or other brands that deliver similar benefits.

The issue with all new gear, think about Triathlon / TT bikes that can set you back by $20,000 or even more, or what about the carbon inlay running shoes that can cost you $500, or aero helmets, the latest triathlon deck, integrated drop bars and the list goes on. Of course the manufacturer will always claim that it’ll make you faster and you can certainly spend a lot of money without really ever knowing if it was a good investment or it only makes you look good, or sometimes even that is questionable!

Our answer to this is TESTING.

And the best way of testing any piece of kit is to use it in a time trial (TT), where you keep everything else the same but use the new piece of equipment. Some companies might even allow you to test before you buy or sometimes you can get the item from a mate and do a test that way. If you haven’t done so already you need to enter the new piece of kit into the Gear and Bicycle Log Book and then when you enter your TT result use the Gear dropdown to choose the new item you’re testing.
